Prime Minister congratulates Philip Pierre on re-election in Saint Lucia

Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar has ex­tend­ed con­grat­u­la­tions to Saint Lu­cia’s Prime Min­is­ter Philip Pierre af­ter his Saint Lu­cia Labour Par­ty re­tained its leg­isla­tive ma­jor­i­ty in yes­ter­day’s gen­er­al elec­tion.

In a mes­sage post­ed on X, Per­sad-Bisses­sar said, “Con­grat­u­la­tions to in­cum­bent Prime Min­is­ter Philip Pierre @PhilipJPier­reLC whose Saint Lu­cia Labour Par­ty (SLP) has re­tained its leg­isla­tive ma­jor­i­ty in to­day’s Gen­er­al Elec­tion. The peo­ple of Saint Lu­cia have spo­ken at the polls and I wish Prime Min­is­ter Pierre and his Gov­ern­ment all the best in the fu­ture. May God con­tin­ue to rich­ly bless the peo­ple of Saint Lu­cia.”

Pre­lim­i­nary re­sults re­port­ed by the St Vin­cent Times in­di­cat­ed that the SLP se­cured 14 seats in the 17 seat Par­lia­ment. Ear­ly da­ta showed the par­ty lead­ing in most con­stituen­cies. The out­let re­port­ed that the SLP re­ceived 27,156 votes while the Unit­ed Work­ers Par­ty ob­tained 19,009. Two in­de­pen­dent can­di­dates al­so won their seats.

Saint Lu­cia is di­vid­ed in­to 17 elec­toral dis­tricts.
