Tobago man shot dead in Mason Hall, suspect in custody

One man is now in po­lice cus­tody fol­low­ing the mur­der of 23-year-old Is­rael Collin in Ma­son Hall on Tues­day night, as To­ba­go’s homi­cide toll ris­es to sev­en for the year.

Guardian Me­dia was told Collin, al­so known as “Skeng”, was shot dead around 8.10 pm af­ter a grey Nis­san Ti­i­da stopped abrupt­ly out­side Basik’s Mi­ni Mart at Sandy Riv­er. Sev­er­al gun­men got out and opened fire be­fore es­cap­ing in the same ve­hi­cle.

Collin, who lived in the area, was found un­der a tent on the south­ern side of the road with mul­ti­ple gun­shot wounds. 

DMO Dr Pe­ters pro­nounced him dead at the scene, and his moth­er lat­er iden­ti­fied the body.

Crime Scene of­fi­cers re­cov­ered 24 spent nine-mil­lime­tre shell cas­ings.

Act­ing on in­tel­li­gence gath­ered at the scene, of­fi­cers de­tained a Ma­son Hall man along North­side Road. He re­mains in cus­tody as­sist­ing po­lice.
