A police officer assigned to the Mounted Branch and his horse were injured when a truck driver attempted to overtake them in St Clair on Monday afternoon.
Police said the officer was on mounted patrol on Barbados Road at around 2.23 pm when a white Hino 500 truck was driving behind him. The driver tried to overtake the horse and rider, causing the horse to become frightened when the truck’s tyre made contact with its left rear leg.
The officer was thrown from the horse and sustained minor injuries, while the horse was also injured.
St Clair police visited the scene and are continuing their enquiries.
