Two arrested and firearm seized in Siparia

Two men were ar­rest­ed and a firearm along with am­mu­ni­tion seized dur­ing an ear­ly morn­ing an­ti-crime op­er­a­tion car­ried out by of­fi­cers of the Siparia Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment on Tues­day.

Around 4.15am of­fi­cers re­spond­ed to re­ports of loud ex­plo­sions re­ceived by the Po­lice Com­mand Cen­tre. The of­fi­cers in­ter­cept­ed a white Nis­san Ti­i­da dri­ven by a twen­ty-six-year-old man of Gam­bal Street, Siparia. A twen­ty-nine-year-old man of Wel­come Pe­ters Street, Siparia, was in the front pas­sen­ger seat.

Of­fi­cers searched the ve­hi­cle and found the fol­low­ing items:

• One HELL­CAT Spring­field Ar­moury pis­tol

• One Spring­field Ar­moury nine mil­lime­tre mag­a­zine

• Eight rounds of nine mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion, four marked S and B 9MM and four marked Luger CBC

Both men were ar­rest­ed for pos­ses­sion of a firearm and pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion. They were tak­en to the Siparia Po­lice Sta­tion for fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
