11 Caribbean nations affected as US pauses visa processing

Over 10 Caribbean coun­tries have been im­pact­ed as the US State De­part­ment is paus­ing im­mi­grant visa pro­cess­ing for 75 coun­tries in an ef­fort "to crack down on ap­pli­cants deemed like­ly to be­come a pub­lic charge." Trinidad and To­ba­go and Guyana have not been in­clud­ed.

A State De­part­ment memo, re­port­ed by Fox, di­rects con­sular of­fi­cers to refuse visas un­der ex­ist­ing law while the de­part­ment re­assess­es screen­ing and vet­ting pro­ce­dures.

The Caribbean coun­tries in­clude An­tigua and Bar­bu­da, Bar­ba­dos, Be­lize, Cu­ba, Do­mini­ca, Grena­da, Haiti, Ja­maica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lu­cia, Saint Vin­cent and the Grenadines.
