Over 10 Caribbean countries have been impacted as the US State Department is pausing immigrant visa processing for 75 countries in an effort "to crack down on applicants deemed likely to become a public charge." Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana have not been included.
A State Department memo, reported by Fox, directs consular officers to refuse visas under existing law while the department reassesses screening and vetting procedures.
The Caribbean countries include Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Cuba, Dominica, Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
