Woman bites off bandit’s finger in attempted robbery

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are now un­der­way in­to re­ports that a woman bit off part of a ban­dit’s fin­ger dur­ing an at­tack in El So­cor­ro on Sat­ur­day af­ter­noon.

Po­lice said the 57-year-old woman was walk­ing on the El So­cor­ro Road at around 3.40 pm when a man ap­proached her and tried to snatch her gold chain .

The woman grabbed the man’s hand and bit his fin­ger hard enough that part of his fin­ger­nail and skin were sev­ered.

The ban­dit then ran away.

Of­fi­cers of the Barataria CID were called in and are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.

Se­cu­ri­ty cam­era footage of the in­ci­dent was re­quest­ed and is ex­pect­ed to be viewed by in­ves­ti­ga­tors as part of the en­quiry.
