Investigations are now underway into reports that a woman bit off part of a bandit’s finger during an attack in El Socorro on Saturday afternoon.
Police said the 57-year-old woman was walking on the El Socorro Road at around 3.40 pm when a man approached her and tried to snatch her gold chain .
The woman grabbed the man’s hand and bit his finger hard enough that part of his fingernail and skin were severed.
The bandit then ran away.
Officers of the Barataria CID were called in and are continuing enquiries.
Security camera footage of the incident was requested and is expected to be viewed by investigators as part of the enquiry.
