A 20-year-old woman was robbed and forced out of a car after she boarded a vehicle she believed was legitimate transportation early Friday morning.

Police say the woman, a waitress from Marabella, was waiting for transport along Point-a-Pierre Road in San Fernando around 3.40 am when she got into a gold Nissan Cube with three men.

She asked to be taken home, but instead the driver headed towards the Southern Main Road in Marabella. When she insisted they take her to her destination, one of the passengers pulled a knife and announced a robbery.

The men drove into the compound of Tropical Plaza, where the passenger with the knife took her purse and stole $1,000 — her week’s salary.

They then drove to the Petrotrin Roundabout and ordered her out of the vehicle before heading north.

The woman walked to the Marabella Police Station and reported the incident. Officers are checking CCTV from several locations along the route and investigations are continuing.
