T&T, Dominican Republic to sign Air Services Agreement

The Min­istry of For­eign and CARI­COM Af­fairs has an­nounced the Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic and T&T will sign an Air Ser­vices Agree­ment, which will fa­cil­i­tate air trans­porta­tion con­nec­tiv­i­ty soon.

It comes as the Min­is­ter of For­eign and CARI­COM Af­fairs, Sean Sobers, wel­comed am­bas­sador of the Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic, Raquel Ja­cobo Jaar, in a meet­ing that dis­cussed trade and in­vest­ment.

Diplo­mat­ic ties be­tween both na­tions were es­tab­lished in May 1968.

Ac­cord­ing to a state­ment from the min­istry, ” Dis­cus­sions high­light­ed key trade dy­nam­ics, in­clud­ing ma­jor im­ports from the Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic such as plas­tics, bev­er­ages, fruit and nuts, iron and steel, to­bac­co, salt, pa­per and elec­tri­cal ma­chin­ery, as well as Trinidad and To­ba­go’s top ex­ports, such as fer­tilis­ers, min­er­als, food prepa­ra­tions, plas­tics, chem­i­cals and bev­er­ages.”

Am­bas­sador Ja­cobo Jaar like­wise em­pha­sised her coun­try’s com­mit­ment to deep­en­ing en­gage­ment with Trinidad and To­ba­go, not­ing the po­ten­tial for fur­ther co­op­er­a­tion in ar­eas of trade, cul­tur­al ex­change and re­gion­al part­ner­ship.
