Months of uncertainty, court proceedings and campaigning ended with Team Prime retaining leadership of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Social Welfare Association (TTPSSWA) after Monday’s elections.

Team Prime, originally led by ASP Gideon Dickson, has led the association for two terms after winning the 2019 elections and defeating then Insp Sean Clarke of the Police Empowerment Party.

In May, acting ASP Ishmael Pitt succeeded Dickson as the head of Team Prime, leading the party for the first time through its internal election.

According to preliminary results from the association’s election committee, Team Prime, led by acting ASP Ishmael Pitt of the Northern Division, emerged as the clear winner, earning 756 votes for president.

In second place, acting Insp Ancil Forde of Trust United earned 422 votes, while ACP Anand Ramesar of Team Equity received 256 votes.

For vice president, acting ASP Owie Russell earned 663 votes, while ASP Nathalie John secured the position of secretary with 746 votes. Both Russell and John also represented Team Prime.

Guardian Media attempted to contact Pitt for comment via phone and WhatsApp but was unsuccessful.
