Two separate robberies took place on the Beetham Highway on Wednesday, with six people targeted within a span of four hours.

In the first incident around 6 p.m., two men, aged 21 and 22, were driving along the highway when they stopped near the John John Flyover to assist a motorist whose car had broken down.

As they approached the vehicle, they were confronted by eight men who demanded their belongings. One of the attackers struck the 21-year-old in the head and chest before stealing his cellphone and Crocs. The 22-year-old was robbed of his car and $100, and the man with the disabled car was also robbed of a cellphone. The group of attackers escaped in the stolen car and had not been held up to Thursday morning.

Later that night, at about 10:30 p.m., a man and a woman were travelling west in a blue Kia Rio when they stopped to fix a tyre near the WASA pipelines.

They were accosted by six bandits, one armed with a gun, who robbed them of two cellphones, an engagement ring, and a wallet before fleeing into the Beetham.

Both incidents are being investigated by Besson Street police.
