SECRETARY GENERAL of the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha, Sat Maharaj, has accused Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi of using “subterfuge” and described the consultation a “farce” following the passing of a Bill raising the age of marriage to 18 years via a simple majority. On January 17 the Miscellaneous Provisions (Marriage) Bill was passed in the Senate by a margin of 23 for, none against, five abstentions. Maharaj, in a media release yesterday, questioned the actions of the AG.
