Private sector told, build more houses


ACTING Prime Minister Colm Imbert yesterday disclosed the State is considering a proposal to offer tax incentives to private housing developers, to encourage the construction of housing stock in the $650,000 to $1.3 million range. “Certainly we need to motivate the private sector in terms of incentives,” Imbert, who is the Minister of Finance, told reporters at the Cabinet media briefing held at the Office of the Prime Minister, St Clair. It was his first public engagement as acting Prime Minister since taking on the post on Sunday.
