Police destroy $1.39 million in cannabis

Po­lice de­stroyed over $1 mil­lion worth of cannabis dur­ing an op­er­a­tion in the North Cen­tral Di­vi­sion on Wednes­day 2nd Ju­ly 2025. Be­tween 6:30 am and 9:30 am, of­fi­cers con­duct­ed an in­tel­li­gence-led Cannabis Sup­pres­sion Op­er­a­tion in St. Joseph.

Of­fi­cers en­tered a moun­tain­ous area and un­cov­ered three cannabis fields on four lots of land and two nar­cotics camps.

They de­stroyed 1,390 ful­ly grown cannabis trees and two seedling beds. One sus­pect from St. Joseph was ar­rest­ed for cul­ti­vat­ing ap­prox­i­mate­ly 100 ful­ly grown cannabis trees.

The es­ti­mat­ed street val­ue of the cannabis de­stroyed is $1,390,000. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing. Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice Al­lis­ter Gue­var­ro, who par­tic­i­pat­ed in the op­er­a­tion, com­mend­ed the Spe­cial In­tel­li­gence Unit Jun­gle Op­er­a­tions Team, su­per­vised by Cpl Mo­hammed, the Firearm Traf­fick­ing In­ter­dic­tion Unit un­der Cpl See­lals­ingh, the North­ern Di­vi­sion-West Task Force led by ASP Bharath, and the Air Sup­port Unit un­der In­sp Ram­palard for their work in dis­rupt­ing the il­le­gal drug trade.
