A 33-year-old “PH” taxi driver escaped unhurt after he was ambushed by two armed men while working in La Brea on Sunday afternoon.
Around 1:30 p.m., the driver picked up a man in a white vest and black hat along Belle Vue #2. When they reached a dead end, another man armed with a gun confronted him. The front seat passenger also pointed a firearm at him.
Fearing for his life, the driver fought them off, climbed into the back seat, exited through the rear door, and ran. Pedestrians assisted him. When he returned with police, the car was still there but the ignition key, his Samsung A23 phone, and a pioneer music deck were missing.
Police later arrested a 22-year-old labourer from Belle Vue #2 in connection with the incident. Investigations are continuing.
