Passenger dies after medical emergency at Piarco Airport

A pas­sen­ger ar­riv­ing at Pi­ar­co In­ter­na­tion­al Air­port this morn­ing died af­ter suf­fer­ing a med­ical emer­gency in the Im­mi­gra­tion Hall.

The Air­ports Au­thor­i­ty of Trinidad and To­ba­go con­firmed that the in­ci­dent oc­curred around 6:00 a.m. when the ar­riv­ing in­ter­na­tion­al pas­sen­ger be­came un­re­spon­sive short­ly af­ter en­ter­ing the Im­mi­gra­tion Hall.

Emer­gency Med­ical Tech­ni­cians (EMTs) sta­tioned at the air­port re­spond­ed im­me­di­ate­ly and pro­vid­ed ur­gent care.

The pas­sen­ger was then tak­en to the Ari­ma Health Fa­cil­i­ty by GM­RTT.

How­ev­er, the Au­thor­i­ty lat­er re­ceived con­fir­ma­tion that the pas­sen­ger had died.

In a state­ment, the Air­ports Au­thor­i­ty said:

“Air­ports Au­thor­i­ty of Trinidad and To­ba­go wish­es to ex­tend deep­est con­do­lences to the fam­i­ly and loved ones of the pas­sen­ger dur­ing this dif­fi­cult time.”
