Triangular World founder John Hall will discuss the potential for further developing the local finance and accounting (F&A) ecosystem when he visits Trinidad and Tobago at the request of the Trinidad and Tobago International Financial Centre (TT IFC).
Hall, a recognised international outsourcing expert who leads Triangular World which is a niche consultancy group based in London and Brussels, will speak at 1pm today at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago (ICATT) annual conference, at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad.
In addition to his participation at the conference, Hall will engage with local business leaders through a series of discussions. These meetings will provide a forum to discuss how their organisations can benefit from adopting a Shared Services model, as well as to examine their role in developing the local F&A Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry.
Hall’s visit comes shortly after two, major international acknowledgements for this country’s BPO industry. In late September, AT Kearney released its yearly Global Services Location Index (GSLI) report that ranked TT at number 40 out of 55 countries providing outsourcing services. The 2017 ranking moved this country up two places from the previous year, extending the nation’s credibility and placing it ahead of long-term, nearby players such as Jamaica and Canada. Additionally, The Banker’s ranking of International Financial Centres, also published in September by the globally trusted source for economic and financial intelligence, placed this country, for the very first time, at number 54 out of a total of 57 countries analysed. These rankings demonstrate the country’s increasing international profile, as well as the level of service provided locally, and the value offered to institutions seeking to widen their international operations.
With the expanding global awareness for TT as a BPO location assisted by ongoing international marketing touch points facilitated by the TT IFC, the meetings with Hall prove timely. Triangular World is the initiator and co-creator of the industry standard for shared services called LevelUP, which enables businesses to track themselves against best-in-class practices, and identify strengths on which to build, as well as areas of untapped opportunity. Hall will help local businesses understand the importance of change, with a focus on their end-to-end processes, shared services and outsourcing.
Aliyah Jaggassar, vice president of BPO/Shared Services at the TT IFC, noted that Hall’s presentation would provide valuable insight for local businesses on BPO and shared services which would redound to the country as a tool for diversification.
“As a globally-lauded leader in the BPO and shared services industry, Mr Hall is ideally suited to demonstrate how this field can transform our economy,” she said. “The TT IFC is pleased to have arranged these business discussions and be a part of this conference, and we look forward to giving participants the opportunity to learn how we can establish international best practices to advance our industry and economy.”
