The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has appointed a new Board of Directors to lead the Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (UDeCOTT), with the official installation taking place on Monday.

Shankar Bidaisee will serve as Chairman of the board, supported by Deputy Chairman Peter Kanhai. The other appointees are Dr Robelto Osborne, Hema Soondarsingh, Omkarnath Supersad-Maharaj and Indira Bansee.

Speaking at the ceremony, Works and Infrastructure Minister Jearlean John urged the board to embrace its mandate with a people-first approach and a commitment to national progress.

“UDeCOTT is poised to play a pivotal role in the country’s infrastructural development and can be a powerful force for transformation as Trinidad and Tobago pivots toward economic diversification,” John said. “I encourage the board to remain resolute and people-focused in the delivery of results that reflect UDeCOTT’s guiding principle: ‘Signed. Sealed. Delivered.’”

Bidaisee, in his remarks, outlined three principles to underpin the board’s work: regulatory compliance, timely project execution and cost discipline.

“Let us lead in a way that makes the country proud,” he said, “and contributes meaningfully to Trinidad and Tobago’s progress.”

The ministry congratulated the new board and pledged full support for its leadership, stating that with their combined expertise, UDeCOTT is well-positioned to shape a modern and resilient infrastructure landscape.
