New MTS board unveiled

The Min­istry of Pub­lic Util­i­ties for­mal­ly ap­point­ed the new Board of Di­rec­tors for the Na­tion­al Main­te­nance Train­ing and Se­cu­ri­ty Com­pa­ny Lim­it­ed (MTS) on Mon­day, 9 June 2025, at a cer­e­mo­ny held at the min­istry’s head of­fice in St.Clair, Port-of-Spain.

At the helm is new­ly ap­point­ed Chair­man Adri­an Bar­ran, de­scribed in the re­lease as “a sea­soned leader in health, safe­ty, se­cu­ri­ty, and en­vi­ron­ment (HSSE), with over 17 years of ex­pe­ri­ence across the oil and gas, petro­chem­i­cal, avi­a­tion, health, and reg­u­la­to­ry sec­tors.” Bar­ran has served in se­nior ca­pac­i­ty as Head of Cri­sis Man­age­ment & Emer­gency Re­sponse at the Na­tion­al Gas Com­pa­ny (NGC), bring­ing con­sid­er­able HSSE cre­den­tials to the role.

In his re­marks, Min­is­ter of Pub­lic Util­i­ties Bar­ry Padarath thanked the ap­pointees “for their will­ing­ness to serve the peo­ple of Trinidad and To­ba­go,” urg­ing them to car­ry out their man­date “with the high­est lev­el of pro­fes­sion­al­ism.” He em­pha­sized that MTS oc­cu­pies a “crit­i­cal role” in main­tain­ing and se­cur­ing pub­lic build­ings, un­der­scor­ing that “the ren­o­va­tion and con­struc­tion of schools na­tion­wide is a key com­po­nent of the com­pa­ny’s man­date.”

Al­so in at­ten­dance were Min­is­ter in the Min­istry of Pub­lic Util­i­ties, Clyde El­der, and Par­lia­men­tary Sec­re­tary in the Min­istry of Pub­lic Util­i­ties, Shiv­an­na Sam.
