A man was kidnapped from his Dow Village home on Saturday night after two men forced their way into the residence.
Police said the incident happened around 8 p.m. A witness, who was asleep in an upstairs bedroom of the two-storey house, reported being awakened by two men who kicked open the front door. One was armed with a long metal pipe. They went to an adjacent bedroom, grabbed the victim, Luke Rampersad, dragged him outside and forced him into a waiting vehicle, which then sped north along Seventh Street.
Officers interviewed the witness, recorded a report, took a statement and visited the scene. The area was canvassed and several people were interviewed. The Anti-Kidnapping Unit and Central Crime Scene Investigators were also notified.
A search in the area later led to the arrest of two people, and police seized the vehicle believed to have been used in the kidnapping. However, police have not yet confirmed whether Rampersad has been found. Enquiries are continuing.
This is a developing story.
