Man kidnapped from home in Dow Village

A man was kid­napped from his Dow Vil­lage home on Sat­ur­day night af­ter two men forced their way in­to the res­i­dence.

Po­lice said the in­ci­dent hap­pened around 8 p.m. A wit­ness, who was asleep in an up­stairs bed­room of the two-storey house, re­port­ed be­ing awak­ened by two men who kicked open the front door. One was armed with a long met­al pipe. They went to an ad­ja­cent bed­room, grabbed the vic­tim, Luke Ram­per­sad, dragged him out­side and forced him in­to a wait­ing ve­hi­cle, which then sped north along Sev­enth Street.

Of­fi­cers in­ter­viewed the wit­ness, record­ed a re­port, took a state­ment and vis­it­ed the scene. The area was can­vassed and sev­er­al peo­ple were in­ter­viewed. The An­ti-Kid­nap­ping Unit and Cen­tral Crime Scene In­ves­ti­ga­tors were al­so no­ti­fied.

A search in the area lat­er led to the ar­rest of two peo­ple, and po­lice seized the ve­hi­cle be­lieved to have been used in the kid­nap­ping. How­ev­er, po­lice have not yet con­firmed whether Ram­per­sad has been found. En­quiries are con­tin­u­ing.
