THE Shore of Peace cremation site could soon be at the centre of a legal battle between the Siparia Regional Corporation and a prominent southern family over ownership of the land. In a yet to be published notice, the South Oropouche family has informed the public that access to the site would be restricted from May 1, pending “acquisition by the Government of the privately owned lands.” The notice adds that, “the owner is constrained to close this site from May 1, 2016, until the acquisition process is completed .
