Govt should have discussed this


BUSINESSMAN Balliram Maharaj said Government should have engaged in wider public consultation before bringing the Finance Bill to Parliament which sought, among other things, to add 99 food items — including milk, butter and flour — to the VAT list. He is now worried this move would see shoppers, especially those in the lower income bracket, struggling to put food on their family tables.
