Education Minister Anthony Garcia said no agreement has been reached with the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) about this year’s CXC examinations.

Responding to a question in the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Garcia said Government agreed with the decision by Caricom that the exam be held in June-July. But he added CXC said holding the exam at that time is not cast in stone.

Garcia said the staging of the exam will depend on the advice from the Health Ministry in relation to measures to mitigate the covid19 pandemic. Later in the sitting, Garcia said the University of TT (UTT) will publicly advertise for a new president in the first week in May.

He said Professor Prakash Persad was appointed acting UTT president on February 5 after then president Sarim Al-Zubaidy proceeded on leave which he was entitled to. Al-Zubaidy resigned on January 15 as UTT president.
