Four wounded in Sangre Grande shooting

A Venezue­lan na­tion­al is among four peo­ple shot and wound­ed when gun­men opened fire on the ve­hi­cle they were trav­el­ling in.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, around 12:45 am yes­ter­day, Richard Pros­per—a watch­man at the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal con­struc­tion site—was dri­ving his black Nis­san Ti­i­da west along Kat­wa­roo Trace, San­gre Grande, with three oth­er oc­cu­pants. As they ap­proached the con­struc­tion site, they re­port­ed­ly heard loud ex­plo­sions and be­gan feel­ing burn­ing sen­sa­tions on their bod­ies.

The vic­tims were tak­en to the near­by Ac­ci­dent and Emer­gency De­part­ment of the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal, where they re­ceived med­ical at­ten­tion.

Ag Sgt John of­fi­cers of East­ern Task Force and CSI of­fi­cers vis­it­ed the scene and are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.

Po­lice of­fi­cers combed the area for the sus­pects but all search­es were fu­tile.

How­ev­er the of­fi­cers are re­ly­ing on CCTV footage to as­sist them in their in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

CSI of­fi­cers Ra­goo­bar and WPC Beek­ley who processed the scene found twelve 9 mm spent shells.
