A Venezuelan national is among four people shot and wounded when gunmen opened fire on the vehicle they were travelling in.
According to police reports, around 12:45 am yesterday, Richard Prosper—a watchman at the Sangre Grande Hospital construction site—was driving his black Nissan Tiida west along Katwaroo Trace, Sangre Grande, with three other occupants. As they approached the construction site, they reportedly heard loud explosions and began feeling burning sensations on their bodies.
The victims were taken to the nearby Accident and Emergency Department of the Sangre Grande Hospital, where they received medical attention.
Ag Sgt John officers of Eastern Task Force and CSI officers visited the scene and are continuing investigations.
Police officers combed the area for the suspects but all searches were futile.
However the officers are relying on CCTV footage to assist them in their investigation.
CSI officers Ragoobar and WPC Beekley who processed the scene found twelve 9 mm spent shells.
