Drunk driver cases triple


THE number of persons held by police for driving under the influence for the year so far have tripled when compared with figures from 2014. According to Acting Assistant Superintendent (ASP) Wendell Lucas yesterday, 2,365 persons have been so charged for the year thus far, while the number for all of 2014 was 731. Road traffic deaths involving pedestrians and motor cyclists are also up according to Lucas, but there has been a reduction in actual road accidents for 2015 when compared with last year.
