Diego Martin man shot dead while liming

A 21-year-old main­te­nance work­er was shot and killed on Mon­day night while lim­ing with friends at Ra­goo Dri­ve, Wa­ter­wheel, Diego Mar­tin.

The vic­tim, Samuel John­son of Bridge Road, was re­port­ed­ly among a group of peo­ple lim­ing around 10.20 p.m. when a man armed with a gun ap­proached and opened fire. John­son was struck mul­ti­ple times about the body and col­lapsed at the scene. The gun­man fled on foot.

Short­ly af­ter, a group of peo­ple placed John­son in a beige Nis­san Almera and be­gan dri­ving him to the St James Med­ical Com­plex. They en­coun­tered first re­spon­ders on pa­trol in the area, who es­cort­ed them to the hos­pi­tal. John­son was pro­nounced dead at 10.57 p.m. while re­ceiv­ing treat­ment.

Crime scene in­ves­ti­ga­tors re­cov­ered 14 spent 9mm shells, two pro­jec­tiles, a bul­let frag­ment, and oth­er items of ev­i­den­tial val­ue.

A post-mortem is ex­pect­ed. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing.
