Caribbean Music Awards for NAPA

The Trinidad and Tobago (Caribbean) Music And Entertainment (TTCME) Awards is being touted as an evening that will speak to the excellence and celebrity of T&T performing arts, entertainment and the supporting industries.

According to executive president and founder of Acknowledging, Caribbean, Talent (ACT)), Richard Cornwall, the awards is about recognition, first and foremost.

“This will be the first ever concept of its kind to be held in Trinidad and Tobago as well as, in the Caribbean.

Many categories, will see the major players and who are considered as ‘not so important contributors’ awarded for the very first time in the history of any awards show,” said Cornwall in a media release.

The award ceremony is scheduled for October 26 at National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA), Port-of-Spain,

One interesting aspect of the awards is the fact that the entire list of nominees will be voted on by the fans themselves. The text-to-vote system guarantees 100 per cent transparency. There is no way the organisers, through the selection of judges, can manipulate voting outcomes, the release stated.

ACT said it has taken a progressive stance on its marketing of the TTCME Awards.

The brand can be found all across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, with many of the nominees taking the initiative of creating their own social media content to appeal to their fans to vote.

The black tie, gala event will begin with the red carpet walk.

There will be over two dozen live performances, with a range of artistes of all genres: from the gospel opening acts to the top headliners of every soca fete. The mix of live talent on display means that there will be something for everyone’s tastes.

The event will also be broadcast live via Facebook and two days later a made-for TV package will be televised on broadcast partner, TV6.

Tickets are available at the NAPA box office, or from committee members For more info on how to participate in the text-to-vote for nominees in over 28 categories, visit the TTCME Awards page on Facebook.
