The Vatican has announced the appointment of Archbishop Jason Gordon to the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue. Pope Leo XIV made the appointment.
Gordon is Archbishop of Port of Spain. The appointment, a statement from the AEC said, reflects the Holy Father’s confidence in the Antilles Episcopal Conference. It also acknowledges Archbishop Gordon’s work in fostering dialogue and understanding among people of different faith traditions. Archbishop Gordon joins a group of Cardinals, Archbishops, Bishops, and Vicars from around the world in this ministry. This ministry promotes peace and mutual respect among religions.
Other members appointed by the Holy Father include: Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Patriarch of Jerusalem of the Latins; Cardinal Tarcisio Isao Kikuchi, Archbishop of Tokyo; Cardinal Dominique Joseph Mathieu, Archbishop of Teheran-Ispahan of the Latins; and Cardinal Frank Leo, Archbishop of Toronto.
The AEC offers its congratulations to Archbishop Gordon. The AEC requests prayers for him and for all members of the Dicastery. They continue the work of building bridges among faith communities.
