Some residents of Antigua and Barbuda were awakened early by the rumblings of an earthquake, which occurred near the islands on Boxing Day.

The UWI Seismic Research Centre said the quake, which occurred around 6:30 am, had a magnitude of 3.8.

The quake’s epicentre was off the coast of Barbuda at a depth of 52.9 kilometres.
